Human remains found in wheelie bin

Tasmanian police are trying to identify human remains found in a wheelie bin in a river
yesterday.

Devonport police say divers made the discovery during a police operation to recover
stolen property from the Leven River at Ulverstone on the north coast.

The divers found a wheelie bin containing gravel and bones submerged near the Ulverstone wharf.

A forensic examination has confirmed that the remains are human.

More tests are now being conducted in a bid to identify the remains.
